Primus Wafer Paper Wins the Zaanse Ondernemingsprijs 2026
Oostzaan, September 2026 – We are proud to share that Primus Wafer Paper has won the Zaanse Ondernemingsprijs 2026. The award was presented during the Zaanse Ondernemersdag on 3 September and is a wonderful recognition of what we have achieved together as a company.
Primus was one of three nominated businesses, alongside CuraMedical and Krijgsman Watersport. At the end of the evening, our name was announced as the winner and we had the honour of taking home the Zaanse Ondernemingsprijs 2026.
An evening to remember
The award ceremony was part of this year’s Zaanse Ondernemersdag, and we really enjoyed the new festival-style format of the event.
Instead of a traditional business evening, the atmosphere was informal, lively and energetic, with food trucks, talks, workshops, entertainment and plenty of opportunities to meet other entrepreneurs from the Zaan region.
There was also an inspiring keynote programme, featuring speakers including entrepreneur and hospitality businessman Won Yip. The combination of inspiration, networking and entertainment made it a very enjoyable and memorable evening.
And then came the moment we had all been waiting for.
When Primus Wafer Paper was announced as the winner of the Zaanse Ondernemingsprijs 2026, the reaction from our colleagues and guests was unforgettable. The photos say it all: excitement, joy and an incredible sense of pride.
110 years of entrepreneurship in the Zaan region
Winning this award in 2026 makes the moment even more special, as Primus Wafer Paper celebrates its 110th anniversary this year.
What started as a local company in the Zaan region has grown into an international producer of wafer paper, supplying customers around the world from our site in Oostzaan.
Although Primus has grown internationally, our roots have always remained firmly in the Zaan region. That makes receiving this local business award especially meaningful to us.
Combining tradition with innovation
At Primus, we combine more than a century of experience with a strong focus on innovation and continuous development.
We are constantly exploring new possibilities for wafer paper and continue to invest in our products, production processes, quality and organisation.
A good example is our super sour candy paper, which has opened up new opportunities in the consumer market and shows how a traditional product can continue to evolve.
That balance between experience and innovation is an important part of who we are: building on more than 100 years of knowledge while continuing to look ahead.
A team achievement

Above all, we see this award as a team achievement.
Every day, our colleagues across production, quality, engineering, innovation, logistics, sales and service contribute to the success of Primus. Without their commitment, dedication and teamwork, we would not be where we are today.
That is why the Zaanse Ondernemingsprijs 2026 belongs to the entire Primus Wafer Paper team.
We would also like to thank the organisers of the Zaanse Ondernemersdag for a fantastic evening and congratulate CuraMedical and Krijgsman Watersport on their nominations.
110 years of Primus Wafer Paper. International in reach, firmly rooted in the Zaan region, and now proud winner of the Zaanse Ondernemingsprijs 2026.
